When bad news goes viral you just want to crawl under a rock and die. Everyone has at least one moment in their lives that they wish they could do again. Unfortunately, life doesn’t come equipped with an “erase” button and those regrettable moments do not simply wind up on the editing room floor. They continue to exist in your memory – and, often, the memories of others. And, occasionally, they go viral – splashed across the internet for the entire world to see.

As tempting as it may be to change your name and move to a remote village in Outer Mongolia, the wiser option would be to fight back. A nightmare gone viral does not have to mark the death of your glowing online reputation. And you do not have to spend the rest of your existence hanging your head down in shame.

If you have opted for the paper bag to shield yourself from embarrassment, you are going to have to make a few minor alterations. Without them, things will only get worse – and yes, they can get worse.

Make Some Eyeholes

Turning a blind eye to negative comments or embarrassing moments can lead to even bigger disasters. People may assume that they are true. Some may jump on board with their own damaging comments. And others may dismiss you as a coward. You must respond before anyone else has the chance to.

Cut Out A Mouth

You are going to need to address the problem because we have already learned that silence is not an option. Here are a few steps that you will need to take:

 • Apologize - If you have done wrong, you need to admit it. The best way to win back public trust is to offer a sincere “I’m sorry” and take ownership of your mistake.
 • Fix it - You need to offer a resolution for the wrong that you have committed – whatever it may be. If your business has wronged a client, make it right. Find out what would make that customer happy and do it. If your faux pas is of a personal nature, ensure the public that you find this behavior unacceptable and that you have taken steps to ensure that this will never happen again. And follow through with your promises because everyone will be watching to ensure that you do.
 • Share your story - If you have been wrongfully accused, you need to set the record straight. This means sharing your side of the story – particularly on the same forum through which the original accusation was launched. If possible, however, share your story on as many venues as possible.

Choose your words, carefully. You do not want to go on the attack, defame anyone, or use foul language. Simply be honest and share the facts in a respectful manner.

Poke Out Some Nostrils

Yes, the nose holes are handy for breathing, but they also serve an important purpose when combating bad press.

 • Sniff out good press. It’s extremely challenging to remove negative reviews from Google and other search engines, but don’t get discouraged. A great way to combat bad press is to highlight your good press. You need to encourage satisfied customers to post rave reviews regularly. One way to do this is to create special offers for people who leave a review at a specific link. If a viral attack is of a personal nature, friends and relatives can highlight your positive attributes.
 • Track future comments. In order to halt future negative press in its tracks, you will need to monitor your online reputation regularly. This will better enable you to respond immediately and better identify problem areas within your business.
 • Hunt down a pro. One of the best ways to win a battle is to enlist the help of an army of professionals. There are companies that are devoted to maintaining online reputations – including repairing severely damaged ones.

Encountering bad press about yourself or your business is a difficult thing, but when bad news goes viral, it can feel like the end of the world. But don’t fret. You can fight back and restore your good name. By using the tips listed above, you will be able cancel that flight to Outer Mongolia – and finally shed that paper bag.

Top 5 Ways to Leverage Your Social Media Marketing Effortshttp://www.bubbleindia.com/leverage-social-media-marketing-efforts/ http://www.bubbleindia.com/leverage-social-media-marketing-efforts/#comments Fri, 10 May 2013 14:30:31 +0000 Stacy Carter http://www.bubbleindia.com/?p=4545 [Continue Reading]]]> Social Media Marketing Efforts MeterThe social media platform is currently the best way to promote your brand and it is the perfect medium where to exert a significant amount of marketing efforts. This is because millions of internet users are engaged in social media.

Statistics would show that there are about 800 million users of Facebook, 500 million users of Twitter and thousands of people who use LinkedIn and Google + to set up their own profiles. It is obvious that social media will give you the best place where to market your business.

If you want to leverage your social marketing efforts, you should be able to know the right formula to make it work. If you successfully leverage your social media marketing efforts, you will likely give your search engine optimization campaign a boost too.

Social media marketing is known to be a part of SEO strategy where you can drive more traffic to your site and give your site ranking a boost to make your products and services more visible to the internet community.

Here are the top ways that you can leverage your social media marketing efforts the right way.

Invest on your profile

The first step in connecting with people in the social media sites is through your profile. People view the profile of users before they decide they want to add them to their circles or not. It is therefore important to emphasize that you should invest the time and effort in creating an enticing profile that will draw social media users to add you in their circles and to follow you.

Social media users are quite interested in people who are active in updating their posts and participate in discussions. You should be able to invest in keeping your social media profile alive, known and visible by actively posting tweets, comments and ideas to share. Most importantly, be consistent in providing your followers an update about your business and services.

Create valuable content through blogging

Social media users have been using the platform as an all-in-one place where to connect with people, shop, blog and obtain the information they need. Blogging through the social media platform remains to be a powerful internet marketing campaign that you can apply in your social media marketing strategy.

You will likely get a large group of followers if you are able to blog something informative on niches that are related to your business. If social media users identify you as a pro in the particular niche you blog about, they will likely trust your expertise and brand.

Using your blog to draw people to visit your site and to patronize and trust your business is a great way to leverage your social media marketing efforts. Just don’t forget that your blog content should include a link to your site in order to help your followers locate your business website.

Leverage on promotional tactics

As you start building your business blog using your social media account, you can further entice your followers and visitors to frequently visit your site and patronize your business by allowing them to participate in an online contest. It is a good investment to create promotional programs like giving away a sample of your product using your social media account or blog account in order to bring more social media users closer to your business and brand.

Linking your social media profile to your signature

One best way to leverage your social media marketing campaign is to link your social media profile or business site in your signature. This will give you more visibility on the different social media sites each time you leave a post, feedback or a comment with your signature with a linked URL of your business site or social media profile. Participating in forums with discussions related to your business is a good way of leaving your signature to enable the social media users find your business online.

Select different forms of social media platforms

Your social marketing efforts should not only be focused on a single form of social media platform. You can have a better leverage on your marketing strategy if you engage to participate and use varieties of social media marketing campaigns by using videos, images and powerful content.

Pinterest is a growing social media platform where you can embark on a marketing campaign using images. YouTube remains to be the best medium for video marketing campaign while Facebook offers a paid ad on the site which you can use to market your brand. Hash tags on Twitter are also being widely used as a marketing tool for social media marketing.

How To Be More Productive As A Blogger?http://www.bubbleindia.com/how-to-be-more-productive-blogger/ http://www.bubbleindia.com/how-to-be-more-productive-blogger/#comments Sun, 21 Apr 2013 14:30:37 +0000 Kate Funk http://www.bubbleindia.com/?p=4450 [Continue Reading]]]> Get Productive as a Blogger

Being a blogger can be rewarding, because you get to be the master of your own information-vessel. You are the one that controls what people see and you can write whatever you want. It can be rewarding, but it can also be a massive time vampire. And, sometimes it is going to start feeling like work.

To avoid it feeling like work you will need to jump on your blogging feeling when it comes. Your blogging feeling is that little urge you get to write. When you feel the urge you need to start writing, and write as many blog posts as you can before the feeling goes away. That way you have blog posts in reserve for those weeks when you just cannot be bothered to do id. If you don’t want to lose lots of time when blogging, then here are some tips.

Set time limits for your blogging

You should have a larger time limit anyway, because ideally you want to post a blog post every week, fortnight or every month. But, you should also set a time limit for how long you are going to spend blogging. Some people are able to sit down to write a blog post, and then waste a full day doing it. If you are like this then you need to set yourself some goals and time yourself doing them.

Try something such as typing one hundred words per fifteen minutes. Set a small timer and try to portion your writing so that you get out one hundred words in fifteen minutes. Then have a five or ten minute cooling period and try again for another fifteen minutes of writing.

Make sure you have a scheduling tool

A scheduling tool can be a great device to help make you more productive. Create a backlog of blog posts and upload them onto your scheduling tool, and then let the scheduling tool do all the blog posting for you, and the RSS feed updating too. All you need to do is set it and then write and upload the blog posts.

It is good because it allows you to get ahead of yourself, and it makes your blog posting more uniform. Your viewers will know at what time you post every week, so will know when to check your RSS feed. If you have very loyal viewers then they may even be disappointed if your posts are as much as an hour late.

Plan your blog posts before you start writing

This is vitally important because not enough people plan what they are going to write. Be it essay, narrative or blog post, you need to plan what you are going to write. Even if the plan is nothing more than a bunch of points that you are going to cover, because at least then you have the basis of a structure for your blog post. If your blog has just one point, then you need to break that point down into sections that you are going to cover.

You can make your points into headers for your blog posts if you like. If you do not have a plan then you are very likely to ramble on in your blog post, and are highly likely to miss things out that you wanted to include. You are also likely to cover one side/argument in detail whilst having to skim over the other because you have run out of time, enthusiasm, or word count.

Write in detail on one subject and split them into series

This is a very clever little tactic, because it means you can spend an evening writing and come away with lots of blog posts. And, it means you can give your readers an incentive to come back next week. People are able to see the thrilling conclusion or the next installment of your fascinating blog post series.

It also means that you get to go into detail instead of skimming over one subject to try and get the basics all in there. It means you can start with a basics blog post and move onto more advanced matters as the week progresses. It means that you can be very focused on one element on one week, and then tie it into the bigger picture next week.

Remove the distractions from your work area

This involves locking the kids and the spouse out of the room (or the parents). It means turning off your TV or removing it from the room. It means logging out of your Facebook and Email, and means turning off your phone. Even if you leave the phone on for emergencies, you are still going to be distracted when Billy Bob texts you to say that he has found a dead body by the train tracks.

It means you are going to be distracted when you are texted by anyone or when your email alerts pop up. They may seem like minor distractions, but these are the little things that turn two hours work into an evening’s work.

Do not write on your laptop in bed

You are too comfortable and you run the risk of falling asleep. It is true that comfort is important, but you need a certain level of discomfort if you wish to maintain your own attention. Writing on your laptop on your bed will also cause you to shift positions more often, and shifting position is another time vampire that you could do without.

Do not blog on your phone or tablet

It may seem like it is convenient, but it takes too long to get your words out, and you are more prone to mistakes. If you are bored in some place then you need to figure out how you got yourself into this unproductive predicament, and you need to start angling your way out of it so that you can go and do something more productive.

Identify your target audience and ask yourself why they would care

Being a productive blogger means that you write what your audience wants to hear. Seven hundred blog posts about the heroic pigeon that stole a lump of bread from your cat’s mouth is not going to thrill your readers. If you want to be truly productive, then get into the head of your viewers and ask yourself what they are thinking and what their motivations are.

Hire another writer to do it for you

Finally, if you want to be truly productive then have someone else do it for you. Hire a writer and get on with your life. The most productive form of blogging is when someone else does the blogging for you. Let them spend hours of their life staring at a computer screen as they belt out some content.

6 Tips For Enhancing Your Blog Contenthttp://www.bubbleindia.com/enhancing-blog-content-tips/ http://www.bubbleindia.com/enhancing-blog-content-tips/#comments Fri, 05 Apr 2013 03:00:43 +0000 David Lazar http://www.bubbleindia.com/?p=4364 [Continue Reading]]]> Whether you are just beginning your blogging career or you already have a well-known blog with lots of traffic, there are always ways to enhance your blog content and make it even more engaging.

Performing a Google search will in a matter of seconds, enable you to find useful texts on the Internet recommending interesting tools, applications and add-ons that will help you spice up your blog posts.

Here are six quick tips and accompanying tools that can get you started and give you some ideas of how to improve and enhance the presentation of your blog content.

How to enhance blog content

Research and take notes

No matter what your blog is about, it can take time to find a topic that is worth writing about. There are great resources that can help you with that. If you are a more visual type of person, you’ll want to check out websites where people share collections of images, videos, and presentations like Pinterest.

Zemanta is another excellent website that suggests ideas, articles and videos related to any topic you want to search for at their website. You can always find inspiration on other people’s blogs who write about similar things.

Even if you are writing about a subject that you think you know well, it’s always better to do some research before starting to write. When you type in the keywords for your topic, lots of articles will pop up, but you won’t be able to use them or read them all at once. There are many great tools that save resources and help you organize your writing. Tools like Evernote and Instapaper can be great for brainstorming and jotting downing notes as you research potential blog post topics.

Enrich your posts with images

Your post won’t look too appealing to potential readers if it’s nothing but a dense block of text. Most bloggers like to include at least one interesting image that can not only intrigue readers, but also make the blog posts more presentable and easier to look at with wincing. Two of the largest sources for free images are Flickr and Stock.xchng, but there are many other smaller ones too if you are not creatively inclined to create your own visuals. If you are good at art and graphic designed, you can embed your own personal photos and drawings in your blog, and there are amazing tools for creating, editing and converting images online that can help you create captivating images.

Use infographics

Another way to make your post more engaging is to include an infographic, or create a whole post in the form of an infographic. This is a very creative and effective way to deliver information, especially if the information is not too interesting in and of itself. Some very good infographic creators to check out are VisuallyEaselly, and Piktochart. You can get ideas for infographics at dozens of blogs and websites that specialize in them, such as Daily Infographic.

Add audio and video

Tools that convert speech to text are brilliant aids for students, seminar goers, book reviewers, or anyone who wants to translate their notes or whatever they are reading in hard copy to text online. These tools actually come in handy to anyone not too fond of typing. Adding audio content and video content can also improve and diversify your blog greatly. Audio and video podcasts are great tools that will keep your content interesting and give people a break from all of the words on the page without having to refrain from learning something from your blog. However, both are used best in moderation. Adding too much audio or video to your blogs can not only get annoying, but it can also slow down your loading speed and make your blog look very bulky and hard to follow.

Quality control is essential

Though you surely have a spell-checker with your blogging platform, there are free proofreading services online that offer a bit more than simple spell-checking. For example, PaperRater will thoroughly analyze your text, look for possible plagiarism problems, suggest new vocabulary and rate the overall readability of your text. Quality over quantity needs to remain a priority for you, no matter how much your blog grows. Make sure to proofread and look over your blog posts multiple times before posting them. Having a free set of eyes to read your posts is also a good idea that can offer you different perspectives on your writing and what you can do to improve it.

Link to excellent outside sources

Your own ideas are most important at your blog, but linking to quality outside sources can never hurt. If you are looking for interesting content within your niche to help enhance your blog posts, check out sharing sites like Reddit and Delicious for the latest and most interesting articles being written in your niche. Sharing the contents of other bloggers within your own blog could also potentially lead to cooperation with these blogs and maybe even reciprocation in the form of these other blogs linking to quality content from your site.

Sprucing up your blog and making your content more interesting and engaging does not have to take a lot of effort. All of these tips are very easy to implement and furthermore, every one of these tactics will help you to become a better blogger in the long run.

What others tips would you recommend for enhancing the quality of your blog posts?

How Can Bloggers Effectively Use Ethical SEO Practices in Blogging?http://www.bubbleindia.com/how-can-bloggers-effectively-use-ethical-seo-practices-in-blogging/ http://www.bubbleindia.com/how-can-bloggers-effectively-use-ethical-seo-practices-in-blogging/#comments Wed, 27 Mar 2013 09:44:24 +0000 Shaun Chatman http://www.bubbleindia.com/?p=4225 [Continue Reading]]]> Blogging and managing a blog is a fun pastime, but it can also be a profitable business venture. Whatever your motivation, you’ll want to follow ethical SEO practices. Every blogger wants more readers, and white-hat SEO will help you earn them.

Conduct Keyword Research

Conduct Keyword Research

Whether you’re just starting out blogging or you’ve been blogging for a few years, keyword research is essential. Keyword trends change over time, so this is an activity you’ll want to conduct and monitor regularly.

To find out what keywords you should be focusing on, use tools such as the Google AdWords Keyword Tool. It’s free to use and provides recommendations beyond what you’ve entered. Ideally, you want to choose keywords with decent search volumes, which means there are more people searching for those phrases.

Image via Pixabay.com

Write for Your Audience

The most important rule of blogging is to write for your audience — not for the search engines. The reason is that if you write strictly for Google and other search engines, your content won’t sound natural, and you’ll quickly alienate your audience. That’s in addition to possibly being penalized by Google for over-optimization or low-quality content.

Guest Blog for Other Relevant Websites

The blogging community is generally friendly, and building relationships with other bloggers in your space is important. If you have something to offer a blog related to your niche, offer to write a guest post. You’ll earn some more readers and get a backlink for doing so. Read and comment on other blogs even if you aren’t actively pursuing a guest post placement — eventually, you may do so, and you’ll already have an established relationship.

Optimize for Mobile

If you’re using a blogging platform like WordPress, choose a template that’s mobile-optimized — in other words, it appears in a readable and easily navigable layout on mobile devices. Many users have moved away from laptops and started reading blogs and other content on smart phones and tablets, so your layout should accommodate different screen sizes.

Stay Active on Social Media

Stay Active on Social Media

Stay Active on Social Media

Social media is a critical part of SEO today, because search engines are now indexing status updates and other content. It’s also important to simply drive readership. Create profiles on the top social networks, share your content and engage with your audience.

Use Compelling Titles

The key to going viral on social media is to have exceptional, out-of-the-ordinary content. But to get readers to click on your post to start with, you must have a compelling title. Titles are often the first thing social users see, and the only factor in determining whether to click a link to a full article or not.

Content within title tags also carries heavier weight with search engines, so use your keywords wisely (but naturally) within your titles. Experiment with different title styles and formats, and analyze your metrics to find out which of your posts earn the most click-through, and replicate that strategy.

Ethical SEO practices are ideal for bloggers. Not only do these tactics work well for search rankings, but they help to grow your audience, as well.

What do you think? Do you want to use ethical SEO for permanent blogging success or take the short route to final failure?

7 Free Online Backlink Checker Tools You Should Know Abouthttp://www.bubbleindia.com/free-online-backlink-checker-tools/ http://www.bubbleindia.com/free-online-backlink-checker-tools/#comments Wed, 20 Mar 2013 15:05:01 +0000 Tesur Rajan http://www.bubbleindia.com/?p=4160 [Continue Reading]]]> FREE Online Backlink Checker Tools You Should Know About

There was a time when backlinks used to be one of the most important parameter in SEO campaign for getting high page rank and better search engine ranking.

But in the year 2012, Google demoted the priority of backlinks and started considering many other signals to rank pages in search results.

However, backlinks still plays a vital role in SEO campaign but unlike old days, now it’s more important to build high quality backlink from authority blogs instead of building lots of low quality backlink.

And to check the quality or quantity of backlinks you need backlink analyzer tool. Therefor in this post I am going to tell you about a few useful free online backlink checker tools which you can use to monitor your inbound link.

List of Free Online Backlink Checker Tools/Websites

By using these tool, you can derive the list of all the incoming links to your blog. You can use anyone of these tools but don’t expect to get the same result with each one.

#1. BackLink Watch

It is one of the most popular online backlink checker tool used by many bloggers and webmasters. You can use this tool to check the quality and quantity of backlinks pointing to your blog. It will show you anchor text, page rank and total number of outbound links on that page.

You will also be able to see whether the backlink is nofollow or dofollow.

The only thing which I don’t like about Backlink Watch is its pop-ups and the clutter of banner and text ads. Visit site

#2. Analyze Backlinks

Unlike Backlink Watch, Analyze Backlinks has a clutter free homepage and don’t even have pop-ups. Apart for that it gives you different options to filter your results like don’t repeat backlinks from same domain, show links only from homepage, find anchor text, total links, and outbound link on that page. Visit site

#3. Link Diagnosis

Link Dignosis is another free tool that you can use to generate backlink report either detailed or optimized. You can choose whether you want to check backlink for a single page or whole site.

Now here one thing you need to keep in mind that this tool works best with Mozilla FireFox and that too with Link Diagnosis Extension installed. Visit site

#4. Rank Signals

Rank Signals is another excellent tool to monitor your backlinks. You can use this tool to check the total number of backlinks, link anchor text, pagerank of the page from where you are getting backlink.

Not only it provides you backlink report but also show you, your current Page Rank and Alexa Rank.

The thing I like the most about Rank Signals is it’s clean and clutter free lookVisit site

#5. AHrefs

Ahrefs Site Explorer emerged in 2011 as an alternative to Yahoo! Site Explorer, which was shut down on November 21, 2011. Even though it is a paid tool but reports from its free version are quite impressive.

When you sign up for a free account you will be able to generate complete backlink analysis report for upto 10 pages along with anchor text report.

Apart from this, you will also get information like how many backlink you have got from different TDL’s like .edu, .gov, .com etc. and how many of them are dofollow and nofollow. Visit site

#6. Dig Backlink

Not so famous but a useful tool that you can use to analyze your backlinks for free.

All you need is to sign up with your Facebook account and you will be able to generate backlink report for your blog. Just like any other tool Dig Backlink gives you useful information like Pagerank and mozRank of the domain from where you are getting backlink and whether it is an image or text link etc.

One thing which I like the most about this tool is it’s clutter free interface with no popups or any other distracting things. Visit site

#7. Small SEO Tool Backlink Checker

Another free online backlink checker tool which gives you backlink report with information like site PageRank, page PageRank, anchor text and whether the link is dofollow or nofollow.

You may not find this tool as cool as others but the information it gives is really amazing. Give it a try, and share your experience with us. Visit site

And when it comes to customize the default login page in WordPress there are only two ways either you code it or install a WordPress plugin like BM Custom Login which is a free plugin. By using this plugin, you can easily create custom login screen by uploading your custom logo or selecting the predefined template to give a personal touch to your WordPress login panel.

Simple, use the power combo of images and videos. It is common knowledge that people love information presented in a visually appealing way, which is why infographics attract more readers. On the other hand, videos capture more interest because it does not require much effort and they are most often entertaining. Just look at how successful YouTube is with all its viral videos and Pinterest with its photo pin boards. Combine both and you will have a killer content that will propel your traffic up and up.

Now that you know what is effective in luring people to a website and making them stay longer (for healthy bounce rates), let us tackle this not so explored path to content marketing that involves two types of goody eye-charmers, video and images – video infographics.

What is an infographic?

It is a graphical visual representation of data and information. It is mostly composed of graphs, flowcharts and maps for statistical data. In social media, it is often used to present user statistics and success stories. In fact, most of social media infographics show demographics, information flow, and behavioral patterns that create a vivid idea on the core of the data. Simply put, it’s like putting the boring aspects of statistics and history into an effective and highly entertaining media format.

Video + Infographic = Heightened engagement level

A video that is intentionally for marketing and is no doubt a sales pitch often is neglected due to many factors. It might be because of the speaker in the video (unappealing or annoying to the eardrums) or it could be that the video is not worth 5 seconds of people’s time because it spouts nonsense.

But when you mix video and infographic, the impact would definitely be big. People would not turn away from a great artful presentation dished in a friendlier online media, provided that the content is also relevant.

How can this help a website’s SEO or generate traffic?

It is not the one and only way to gain traffic, although optimizing the website through video infographics follow the same SEO best practices such as:

 1. Keyword research (Google suggest, YouTube keyword tool, etc.)
 2. Keyword placements (titles, description, tags)
 3. Annotations for CTAs (Call to Actions)
 4. Closed Captions (text displayed to represent a video’s dialogue)Social sharing for back links

The methods of lead or traffic generation are not new. It is the content and the types of media that one should focus on because they are the elements that make people click to the source of the content (website or YouTube channel).

It’s not necessary to create a new infographic to apply this strategy. If you already have an infographic that is still true and useful today, you can re-purpose it and turn it into a video infographic your users will enjoy. However, it is still best to create fresh content that is up to date and targeted to your specific market.

If you are not yet confident in making an infographic, you can sign up for free infographic templates, apply your stats or whatever contents you have, and present it in a video format.

If you are blogger and you use WordPress as blogging platform, there are chances that you will see an error which reads “Fatal Error: Allowed memory size of xxxxxx bytes exhausted” either in your browser or server logs.

Usually, this happens when you install a new plugin, upgrade to the latest WordPress version or do other task.

The reason why you get this error is the insufficient memory allocated to WordPress and to get rid of this error you need to increase PHP memory limit of your WordPress blog.

In this post, I am going to teach you how to check and increase the default memory limit when it gets exhausted.

How To Check PHP Memory Limit?

The most common way to check the memory Limit for PHP scripts is to create a PHP file on your server like view-php-info.php and put the following code in it.

Select Code
1
<?php phpinfo(); ?>

After creating this file on your server, simple open it in your browser e.g. www.yourdomainname.com/view-php-info.php . Here you will see a table list containing all configuration info about your current PHP environment (including memory limit).

PHP Memory Limit in WordPress

Another simple way to check the memory limit is to install a WordPress plugin called WP-Memory-Usage.

The plugin not only enables you to check the current memory limit but will also show up the current memory usage and the PHP version you are using in the dashboard and admin footer.

How Much Memory Do I need?

By default, the max memory limit for WordPress core is 32 MB but if you are using too many plugins on your WordPress blog especially the plugins that deals with images such as NEXTGenGallery, you probably need 64MB or more memory.

WordPress Memory Usages Overview

If you are unsure of how much memory you need, make use of WP-Memory-Usage Plugin and look out for the memory usage bar. If you find it RED try to increase the max memory limit until it shows up in BLUE color.

How To Increase PHP Memory Limit For Your WordPress Blog

1. Increase Memory Limit via. php.ini

The most common way to increase memory limit is to edit the php.in file on your server. However, most small shared hosting servers won’t give you access to this file.

But if you have access to this file simply follow these steps:

 • Find the location of php.ini on your server by creating view-php-info.php file as mentioned above.
 • Search for “memory_limit” in php.ini and change its value to 64 M or 128 M. In case, there is no “memory_limit” found, add the following line at the end of php.in – memory_limit = 64M;
 • Save it and restart your Apache server with command line – httpd restart

2. Edit Your .htaccess File

A fresh WordPress Installation won’t have a .htaccess file so you need to create it yourself. In case you already have it for some reason just put the following line in it and save the file.

Select Code
1
php_value memory_limit 64M;

By adding this line in your .htaccess file the memory limit will now be 64 MB. In case, you want more just replace 64M with 128M and you’re done.

3. Change Memory Limit in wp-config.php

If you don’t have access to php.in and you don’t want to mess with your .htaccess file, then this method would be the best for you.

In this method, you don’t need to create a new file. Just adding the following line in your “wp-config.php” file would increase your PHP Memory Limit to 64 MB.

Select Code
1
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M');

Over to you.
