YouTube has introduced a new version of its video player with storyboard feature, which will enable users to easily navigate videos. With this new feature you will be able to see video thumbnail of any point just by hovering the video’s timeline and all this without actually moving the video ahead.
The feature which was first spotted by Amit Agarwal from the Digital Inspiration blog is currently being rolled out but it’s unclear when it will be standard for every video.
At present, YouTube generates three thumbnail images to represent a video but this update will allow up to 100 thumbnails per video arranged in a 10×10 storyboard grid.
The storyboard feature could be helpful to quickly skip to the most interesting part of the video based on the video thumbnails just like Dailymotion.

I agree that HTML5 is too far than flash and also flash is very powerful than HTML5. Below are the few points which I have noticed
1) Video compatibility (youtube html5 player need different format of video for different browsers, which directly impact on storage and bandwidth)
2) Styling (need separate CSS for different browsers)
3) Multiple audio support at one time and simulations
4) Code is not secure
And many more…
But as per my analysis and Adobe Flash acceptance for HTML 5. Seems that after few years HTML 5 will be closer competitor.
